El ciclista esloveno Tadej Pogacar volvió a demostrar su absoluta superioridad al imponerse de manera incontestable en la segunda etapa del Tour de Romandía 2026. La exigente jornada, que conectó las localidades de Rue y Vucherens a lo largo de 173 kilómetros de terreno rompepiernas, estuvo marcada por un circuito final verdaderamente decisivo. En dicho trazado, el pelotón debió superar la cota de Vulliens hasta en tres ocasiones, coincidiendo la última ascensión de manera exacta con la línea de meta. Partiendo ya enfundado en el maillot amarillo, el líder de la carrera no ofreció ningún tipo de concesión a sus rivales, neutralizando especialmente a un Dorian Godon que figuraba como el gran favorito tras haber ganado el prólogo inaugural.
La gran escapada del día logró consolidarse a falta de 152 kilómetros para la conclusión, conformada por los rodadores Henri-François Renard-Haquin del Picnic, Filippo Conca del Jayco, Jakob Soderqvist del Lidl y Roland Thalmann del Tudor. Este valiente cuarteto consiguió alcanzar una ventaja máxima de dos minutos y medio sobre un pelotón donde el fuerte ritmo cobró víctimas tempranas, forzando los abandonos de Mattia Gaffuri y del prometedor Mauro Schmid. El equipo Ineos, trabajando decididamente por las opciones de Godon, unió fuerzas con la formación UAE, dedicada a blindar el liderato, para controlar la fuga. El sueco Soderqvist fue el último superviviente de la aventura, siendo atrapado definitivamente a solo seis kilómetros del final bajo un ritmo asfixiante.
Durante el explosivo tramo de la última ascensión, los movimientos tácticos se desencadenaron de forma frenética. Jefferson Cepeda, Pablo Castrillo del Movistar y Florian Lipowitz intentaron dinamitar la prueba con potentes ataques, pero todos chocaron contra la vigilancia inquebrantable de Tadej Pogacar, quien abortó cada ofensiva en primera persona. Al entrar en la recta final, Godon viajaba a la expectativa y perfectamente posicionado, pero el líder esloveno desató toda su potencia en el esprint final. Con un remate implacable, aniquiló las opciones de victoria de su rival, adjudicándose un nuevo triunfo que reafirma su innegociable jerarquía en el frente de la clasificación general.
