Lorenzo Finn, del Red Bull, se ha impuesto en la primera llegada en alto de esta edición del Sibiu Tour . El italiano ha sido el más fuerte y ha ganado con relativa facilidad, si bien el sudafricano Byron Munton, del Modern Adventure, fue el único que consiguió seguirle el paso en la distancia. El nuevo líder atacó en la base de la última subida, sabiéndose el más fuerte. A su rueda respondió Pablo Torres, del UAE. El español sostuvo el alto ritmo del transalpino hasta que ante un nuevo cambio de ritmo ya no le sería posible. El de Red Bull se creció y llegó a meta en solitario.
Por detrás, Munton empezó a tomar el pulso a la ascensión y fue recuperando posiciones hasta el punto que entró por delante de Torres en meta. Adrià Pericas (UAE) fue sexto en una muy buena actuación de los jóvenes españoles.
El anterior líder, Mattias Malmberg, perdió el maillot de líder a lo grande, filtrándose en la escapada del día y dejándose atrapar en los últimos kilómetros. Segundo día en fuga para el danés, que perdió toda opción de volver a lucir la prenda del líder de la carrera rumana. Esa fuga, de siete hombres, protagonizó la etapa con apenas dos minutos de ventaja como diferencia máxima. Pero el control de los hombres de Red Bull y UAE dejaba a las claras que iba a ser día para los hombres de la general.
