La cuarta etapa del Tour de Valonia arrancó en Dison y se desarrolló sobre un exigente recorrido hacia Eupen , tras una larga incursión meridional que incluyó la dura Côte de la Ferme Libert (1,2 km al 11,8%) . El trazado desembocó en dos vueltas locales en Eupen, con un final muy selectivo y una llegada en alto de 500 metros al 9,6% , terreno ideal para los puncheurs.
La jornada, disputada bajo la lluvia, estuvo animada desde el inicio por una escapada de ocho corredores, entre ellos Pim Ronhaar, Théo Demarcin y Jonah Killy, que lograron una ventaja máxima de tres minutos y medio . Sin embargo, la Côte de la Ferme Libert rompió el grupo delantero y la fuga se redujo rápidamente.
El pelotón, comandado por Netcompany, neutralizó a los escapados a 23 kilómetros del final . En el tramo decisivo hubo múltiples ataques, pero Riley Sheehan logró abrir hueco antes de la última subida, pero terminó sucumbiendo ante Arnaud De Lie, que tuvo mucho más empaque en su lanzamiento .

Mañana es el día más difícil, espero que no sea más difícil de lo que fui hoy, pero con el equipo que tenemos, creo que tenemos una buena oportunidad en esto. Los chicos son muy fuertes, y el equipo que tenemos, creo que podemos darlo todo. Me siento seguro de nuestro equipo: juguemos bien nuestras cartas y vayamos por la victoria. Realmente disfruto el recorrido aquí, es muy agradable. Me queda bien, soy un jinete contundente. Si puedo ganar esta carrera, sería fantástico».
