9ª Tour Suiza: Carthy se exhibe; Bernal se confirma

Victoria de etapa para el británico del EF Education First, Hugh Carthy, en la novena y última etapa de la Vuelta a Suiza sobre 101 kilómetros con salida y llegada en la localidad de Goms. Modificado el trazado previsto inicialmente por el peligro de avalanchas, el nuevo recorrido no tenía nada que envidiarle con tres puertos de categoría especial: Nufenenpass (13.3km al 8.5% de pendiente media), San Gotardo (12.1km al 7.4%) y Furkapass (11.5km al 7.7%). 

Por otra parte, el colombiano Egan Bernal (Ineos) consigue el triunfo en la clasificación general sumando su segunda ronda por etapas World Tour de la temporada tras Paris-Niza. El colombiano solo tuvo que responder al previsible movimiento de Rohann Dennis en el Furkapass, para retener los 19″ de diferencia con el australiano, que le garantizaban su segunda general de la temporada. En cuanto a los españoles, el mallorquín Enric Mas ocuparía la novena plaza finalmente en la CG a 4:53 del líder y catalán Marc Soler sería 12º a 6:27 y 15º el guechotarra Jonathan Castroviejo a 9:15 como mejor clasificados.
