Dylan Groenewegen rompió la hegemonía que había impuesto con un doblete Fabio Jakobsen en las dos últimas llegadas masivas del Tour de Hungría. El neerlandés suma su segundo triunfo del año, el 10º para BikeExchange. Fabio Jakobsen mantiene el maillot de líder durante una jornada más.
La etapa transcurrió sin grandes sobresaltos. Una fuga formada por Dima, Etxeberria, Van Poucke y Vandebosch marcó una jornada relativamente tranquila. La diferencia entre los cuatro escapados y el pelotón rondaba los 2 minutos. De ahí no se iba a mover la distancia. El pelotón les tenía medianamente controlados para neutralizarles cuando los equipos de los hombres rápidos consideraran oportuno.
Quick Step volvió a dominar una llegada al esprint en la que no pudieron redondear su trabajo. Fabio Jakobsen no pudo con Groenewegen que fue más rápido en la llegada masiva. A pesar de no poder conseguir su tercera victoria, Jakobsen continúa al frente de la clasificación general. David González fue el mejor español (28º).

DECLARACIONES:
Dylan Groenewegen (1º etapa): «Mis compañeros de equipo hicieron un gran trabajo para mí. Me pusieron en una buena posición. Las piernas estuvieron bien toda la semana, pero los resultados no estuvieron ahí. En los últimos días hemos estado encerrados, pero hoy hemos tenido libertad. Todo el equipo fue realmente fuerte. Fue muy duro, el ritmo del pelotón era muy alto. La final fue difícil con ambas subidas. Aún así, logré mantenerme al día con el pelotón y finalmente corrí hacia la victoria. A unos doscientos metros de la meta, comencé mi esprint y vi que nadie podía seguir el ritmo. No ha sido una temporada fácil hasta ahora».
Fabio Jakobsen (1º general): «No siempre se puede tirar los dados en seis. Las piernas a veces son buenas, a veces no tan buenas, y ese fue el caso hoy. El equipo hizo un trabajo perfecto, simplemente no tenía las piernas, estaban un poco vacías después del ritmo duro empujado por algunos equipos en el último ascenso. Sin embargo, el segundo lugar sigue siendo un buen resultado, y en general, estoy satisfecho con cómo ha ido esta carrera, la primera en un mes, hasta ahora».
