Tras el triunfo ayer de Norman Hansen (Aqua Blue), el Herald Sun Tour (2.1) australiano ha vivido hoy una segunda jornada grande para el ciclismo danés con el triunfo, de nuevo al sprint, de Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo), portador del maillot de campeón de su país y que supo imponer su punta de velocidad en una etapa marcada por la fuga de siete hombres integrada por Etienne van Empel (Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij), Ken-Levi Eikeland (Interpro Stradalli), Alistair Donohoe (Mobius BridgeLane), Nicholas White (Olivers Real Food), Liam Magennis, Liam White (EF-Education First) y Joel Strachan (Team McDonalds Downunder).



Los siete consiguieron una ventaja máxima de cuatro minutos antes de que la prueba tuviera que ser neutralizada a causa de una modificación del recorrido obligada por obras en la carretera. Tras la reanudación fueron Nathan Earle (Israel Cycling Academy) y James Whelan (KordaMentha Real Estate-Australian National Team) los que consiguieron dejar atrás al pelotón, pero su aventura tampoco llegaría a buen puerto y sería finalmente el ya mencionado Pedersen el que se llevara el triunfo mientras que Norman Hansen se mantiene en el liderato.
