Los Boucles de la Mayenne han iniciado su edición de 2026 con un prólogo sumamente técnico de 5.4 kilómetros en Laval, caracterizado por una exigente ascensión de 900 metros al 3.9% y un cartel de participantes de primer nivel. La jornada estuvo marcada por varios regresos importantes, como el del neerlandés Olav Kooij, quien reapareció tras superar un persistente virus para firmar la posición 55, o el de Mads Pedersen, en su primera carrera desde la París-Roubaix. En el plano competitivo, el portugués Ivo Oliveira estableció el primer gran tiempo de referencia en la meta de Laval. Su registro fue batido posteriormente por su compañero en el equipo UAE, Benoît Cosnefroy, quien detuvo el crono un segundo mejor para asentarse de forma provisional en el liderato y postularse como el gran favorito de la clasificación general ante el sutil fallo de otros nombres importantes como Ethan Hayter o Søren Kragh Andersen.

Sin embargo, los kilómetros finales de la prueba cronometrada depararon un vuelco absoluto en los pronósticos. El sueco Jakob Söderqvist completó una formidable actuación al rebajar en cinco segundos el tiempo de Cosnefroy, acariciando una victoria que parecía definitiva. La sorpresa absoluta llegó con el rendimiento del danés Julius Johansen, también integrante de la disciplina de UAE y uno de los últimos ciclistas en tomar la salida. Johansen rodó a una velocidad espectacular para mejorar en un segundo el registro de Söderqvist, adjudicándose de este modo el triunfo de la etapa inaugural. Con esta sólida exhibición en territorio francés, el corredor danés rubrica la segunda victoria de su trayectoria profesional, dando continuidad al éxito que ya cosechó a principios de esta misma temporada en la contrarreloj de O Gran Camiño.
