El tres veces campeón olímpico y cinco mundial en pista, el británico Ed Clancy (JLT Condor) se estrenó com profesional al gnar la breve contrarreloj de 1,6 kilómetros del Herald Sun Tour, prueba australiana 2.1 UCI. Clancy superó en apenas un segundo a los daneses Mads Pedersen (Trek) y Lasse Norman Hansen (Aqua Blue Sport).



Jokin Etxabe, único español, ocupó las últimas plazas, mientras que el colombiano Esteban Chaves cedió 14 segundos.

El jueves se celebra la segunda etapa entre Colac y Warnambool, sobre un trazado de 161,6 kilómetros.
